About Us
Dedicated to neighbor helping neighbor, Surrey Services for Seniors is a community-wide effort that involves older adults, volunteers, local residents, family members and friends. We are a full-service, non-profit organization serving almost 3,500 individuals annually.
Surrey Services for Seniors offers a wide variety of programs - from transportation to in-home services to a full range of activities - for all seniors age 55+, regardless of income, living in Chester and Delaware County communities as well as in Marple and Newtown Township.
Since 1981, Surrey Services for Seniors has provided needed transportation, activities, home care, and volunteer opportunities for older residents from Bryn Mawr to Malvern. As of September 2004 we also serve Marple and Newtown Townships. All of our programs are designed to enable people 55 and over to:
...help older adults to live in their homes with independence and dignity and to continue as active members of the community.

As a nonprofit, community-supported organization, Surrey Services depends on a large and growing number of people who believe in “neighbor helping neighbor.” The community’s gift of volunteer commitment and financial support allows Surrey to deliver services at low cost to older residents in the area, and on a sliding fee scale to those who are in financial need. This is critical given that more than half of Surrey’s members, whose average age is 80, have incomes of $20,000 or less.
Surrey’s commitment to the health and well-being of the community we serve is well illustrated by the range of activities offered. Active people involved with others and in touch with their world usually enjoy the mental health necessary to maintain their independence. At times of change – loss of a lifetime partner or friends, downsizing one’s home, declining health – it is particularly important to rebuild. Surrey offers a supportive, welcoming environment and the companionship of others who are also making this transition.
Our goal is to help people create a new world for themselves - to make new friends, enjoy new experiences and build on their sense of self-worth, not just through involvement in the activity, but by helping others.
We’ll organize the activity, provide transportation and, because our mission is to make these programs available to everyone regardless of their ability to pay, we’ll even subsidize any fees as needed.
Our Activities Include:
- Fitness center, equipped with cardio-vascular and strength training machines, - staffed by a personal trainer (Berwyn Site Only).
